The picture I liked was two men sitting on a bench. This picture dragged my attention because it shows two different men in different places doing the same thing but not knowing that some where else in the world there is another person doing the same thing as you. I think that Mr. Nour photographed this image because he wanted to capture the relationship between the two men and how they are doing the same thing but not knowing it.

I'm drawn into this image because it shows what people in western parts do and wear in the sun and what Middle-Easterners wear. It shows how old fashion the left side is compared to the picture at the right side. At the right side people are dancing, some have no shirts on, and pretty much partying. I also notice women in the right side. But on the left side, people are sitting down, with all cloth on, under the sun, shows how frustrated they are. Theirs also no women, only men.  The left side is staring at the right side curiously and look as if they're giving attention, it shows that they are willing to change to modern society.

Photo

I find this image interesting because Naveed Nour shows the past and the future in one shot. On the left side you can see the present in color and on the right side you can see the past in black and white. The two shots are also in different seasons.

Naveed Nour

Naveed Nour is known for being a great photographer. The photos he takes are looked at as pieces of art. Most of his photos in his gallery online, were mostly of people in their daily routine without noticing the camera. His best pictures seem to be taken in the time of the Iran/Iraq war.

I chose this picture out of the gallery because it looks like two different cultures, one in color and the other in black and white, that are just waiting. The people in the picture look like they're just killing time by reading the paper on a bench, or waiting in front of a building that could be anything public like a bank. Something that also interested me was that the people in black and white seem to be looking up and the people in color seem to be looking down. I'm not sure of the reason but that could be something that Naveed wanted to capture in making this photo.

My personal favorite piece of art by Naveed Nour is two pictures meshed together to compare past and present. The image depicts kids playing soccer, half in black and white depicting years past, and half in color to represent the current day. This is one of my favorites because soccer is such an old pastime that kids/ people stile play and the comparison was almost like the past passing to the future. Another reason I like this one is because I feel like his images of sports are some of the few pieces I can relate to. If i have traveled more, or had any lifestyle connections to his artwork maybe I would appreciate his work more.
Naveed Nour was born in 1963 in Cologne, Germany but his parents were Iranian. He first started taking classes on photography when he went to the photography program at Tehran's University of Fine Arts. In 1992, he moved to America to become more famous and to take a step forward in his career but ended up working Information Technology. I was going through his gallery of photos when a certain photo caught my attention. Naveed Mour does a really nice job of blending the black and white photo with the colored on. As you can see, he also takes the black and white floor and the colored floor and puts them together. There is a little bit of black and white in the colored photo and there is color in the black and white photo. I think that what Naveed is trying to tell the audience, he's trying to show the two different styles of life, the old and the new.

Naveed Nour

Naveed Nour started his Photography career in 1983 when he entered a Photography Program at Tehran University's School of Fine Arts. Naveed began taking photos of Iraq/Iran war zones, after many different travels Naveed earned his BFA in Photography from the University of Ottawa .  In 1992 when moving to America Naveed had a switch of a career to Information Technology but in 2007 Naveed switch back to fine arts and is now a lecturer at Mass College of Art and Design. All of Naveed hard work is being shown in both North America and Europe.

I was drawn to this picture because it is a photo of two men
doing almost the same thing in two different places. I liked this
picture because of the colors and how it goes from black and white to
color. In this picture there is two men sitting on benches in a park or
somewhere else, and it seems like the setting is very peaceful and quite.
Maybe what Naveed is trying to show here is people do the same things
in different places.

A Dummies Guide to Video Production

I had many ideas in mind on what I was going to do for my project when suddenly "Don't stop Till you get enough" by Michael Jackson came on. I have watched this video many times before but never did I get the idea to make my own video to this. This video is very simple, all it is is Michael Jackson wearing a bow tie and tux in front of a green screen where a bunch of random pictures are projecting in the back. I plan on dressing up myself with a bow tie and tux and mouth the words of Michael Jackson.

Project Proposal

A project that we can do in this class that interests me is making a music video. For a music video, I would like to make a collage or montage of images that have some symbolic meaning to the lyrics in the song. Some songs that I have in mind, that are school appropriate, are by the Red Hot Chili Peppers. The songs I'm debating on using are Can't Stop and Around the World. I could also film some scenes that go with the songs. Using a camera I could film some landmarks, maybe nice nature scenes, even people going about their daily lives.

Ideas for music video

Over the break I was thinking about making a dodge-ball video. Not really a documentary but atrailer kind of video with really good music in the background and for the visuals, sick dodge-ball moves. In the video, it would be me obviously, and these other high school kids that play dodge-ball, we go over to the Hosmer every Thursday to play. I have thought about the visuals, but for music, Im still thinking about it.

This Video on the left gave me the idea to make a video with slow motion, and the music was awesome too. Unfortunately, the Music was made with the trailer and its not a real song.

The song below I will be using for the Music Video:

1st semester proposal

For my first project I have been thinking about the song Ghosts n' Stuff by Deadmau5
For the video I was thinking that I would start the story line with an event and then at the end of the video return back to the beginning scene as if it was all a dream. I also feel that there should be a lot of fast scenes and camera angles instead of one big long one.

They Don't Really Want It

I am going to pick a song I like and put a video to it. The videos are going to be mostly of my favorite sports, which are hockey and football. There will be hockey goals and hits and football hits to the song They Don't Really want it by J.R. Writer.

Proposal

For my first project I will be doing a music video. The song that I am going to use for my music video is Forever Young by Jay-z. During my music video I want to do different shots of people when their younger and also of older kids. While shooting I want to make most of my scenes in black and white and in slow motion since most of the song is slow.

The video I posted above shows a lot of examples of types of scenes
I want to do. For example it shows the black and white scenes and
a lot of slow motion action I want to film.

For my first project I am going to do a music video. I am not sure what song I am going to do it on but I have a couple in mind.
1. Get Down- 311
2. Roll if Ya Fall- Barefoot Truth
I don't know if I want to be in it or not but I have a feeling I will end up being in it. For visuals I will use many different pictures and many of my friends said that they would want to be in it. For my video I am not sure what i want to do exactly but i have a feeling that Im going to try to make it funny in many ways.

First Project: Proposal

For our first project we will be making "music videos" of our choice:

1) You make your own music in Garage Band (or whatever program you work on) . This is preferred but I understand not everyone can do this.

2) Find a song that you would like to make a music video to. You can either be in the music video or not. You can shoot video, use the green screen, etc.

3) Write a story/poem and create visuals around the story--with music.

4) Make a documentary about a subject/person that interest you.

Need More Ideas? Check our Youtube Site: http://www.youtube.com/user/WatertownHighSchool

Your goal on Friday (and over the break) is to come up with a plan of what you are going to do and blog about it. This "proposal" will be your first grade for the class this semester.

-What is the song about? What kind of visuals? Are you going to perform in it? Are you going to shoot video. From beginning to end. What videos will inspire your project ( look and feel of the video). Be as specific as possible.

My Life

Hello, my name is Gabe and I was born in Brazil but have been living in America for about 13-14 years. I love football and the reason why I love football is that you get to hit people.

My favorite kind of music is rap and hip-hop. The movies I like are mostly any movie that has guns and is full of action. If I'm not watching an action movie, I am watching any movie that makes me laugh. Some of my favorite movies are Step Brothers, Public Enemy and The Hangover What I want to do after high-school is be a pro-football player. If that doesn't work out then I want to work in the field of criminal justice. I speak several different languages and they include Spanish, English, Portuguese and a little bit of Italian as well. I don't have that many hobbies but some of my hobbies would be that I enjoy making beats on the computer. I also write lyrics but in the past few months I have not been writing as much as before.

Whas goood! Blizziboi Bliss Pain in the blog spot ya'll A.K.A. Lil Tippsy
17 years of age, going on sage, you could say.
Born of both black and white parents in the USA, I have experienced the upsides to both.

I am a Mulatto, 1/2 black  & 1/2 white and because of this I feel like I have a greater understanding of people in general, than the average person. I believe people are only alive to build up an archive of experiences, so I keep my mind open to opportunity.

The important parts of my life include my friends, family, and money. Football is huge and could hopefuly put me through college. Music has been a huge part of my life for the last 4-5 years and thanks to my brothers bachelors degree in construction and design, we built a decent studio, equip with full equipment in our basement. My brother uses programs like "Reason" to make original instrumentals, and produces my hip/hop vocals using Garage Band.

There are millions of unprofessional self proclaimed musical artists in the world, and we are not part of that movement.
The plan is to put Boston on the map, and make alot of money in the process.
I know that these goals are unrealistic but some ones go to do it, so it might as well be me.

Masaud Ahmed

Hi my name is Masaud Ahmed, Im from Pakistan. Let me start by talking about my family. My family is 100% Pakistani and ancestors are from Afghanistan. I have 2 brothers and 1 sister, a mom and a dad. I was born in Pakistan, and moved to the U.S when I was about 5. At that time my dad was already living in the U.S in California and I had only 1 brother. We moved in with my dad in 1998. I don't know what changed my dad's mind but before our arrival, he moved to Brighton,  Massachusetts. We lived there for a couple of years and now it's almost my 5th year in Watertown. I speak 2 languages, Pashto and English.
Since I started school from kindergarten, it wasn't that hard learning a second language, English. Here I am now, in Watertown, 9th Grade. I'm looking forward to becoming an Aerospace Engineer. I've always broken my brothers toys and tried to examine what there was inside. I did find some good stuff and learned how electricity works at an early age. From the early days till now, I still have interest in Engineering and I love airplanes and missiles. So one day I thought why not go for Aerospace engineering, and till this day I'm still loving it. I also have a good amount of interest in the Army. I started thinking about joining the Army at a really young age, mostly because I went to a military school in Pakistan.
I've never thought I'd play sports. but in 7th grade it just ended up that I played Baseball. It all started when the 8th grade math teacher saw me throwing a tennis ball at the wall. He was playing basketball but all of a sudden the gym goes quiet and I look back at him. He was staring at me with his eyes focusing on the ball and his head tilted, I thought I was doing something wrong so I tried to put the ball back in my pocket. Instead he told me to continue throwing, then he told me to sign up for baseball tomorrow. Thats how I ended up playing Baseball.

Collin Geagan

Hi, my name is Collin Geagan and I am a student in a intro to media class at Watertown high school. I was born on July 28, 1993. In my family I have 2 brothers, a sister that are all older then me and my parents. I love to play sports and I am a two sport varsity athlete for Watertown high school. Right now I am wrestling at the 119 weight class and am captain of the wrestling team. last year I was the sectional champion for division 3 central. I beat the number 1 seed in the finals with a come from behind win in the last 30 seconds. In the spring I will be starting up baseball and I will be catching for the varsity team. After high school I am hoping to go into the military. I would like to go into the Marines and serve for my country. After that I want to go to college and study criminal justice and become a police officer like my father is now.

Shah Faisal

Hello, My name is Shah Faisal and I am a senior at Watertown High School. I was born in Pakistan but I moved to the United States at the age of 7. Life was a lot different in Pakistan than it is in America. The people are different, food, activities, every day life..etc. I visit Pakistan every few years and I love going back because it brings back all of the memories I had there when I was a little kid. I couldn' t choose where I would like better: America or Pakistan.
I love to play sports in my spare time, especially baseball. I started playing baseball in the 6th grade and I'm still playing currently. I love playing sports because you get to show your skills and keep on challenging yourself which I love doing. I live with my parents and my two brothers. Family always comes first for me because without them I would not be here. I love just hanging out with my friends and having a good time and get a good laugh out of it. Meeting new people is fun for me because I love seeing how different each person but if you actually think about it, we are all kind of the same.  I like Watertown High school but the one thing I would love to change is the off-campus rule. I think you should be able to leave during lunch and then come back because it keeps everyone from staying in trouble.

Me: Josh

My name is Josh and I am very interested in anything that has to do with entertainment.
I produce my own music using pro-tools and fruity loops, I used to make short videos of me and my friends doing stupid stuff, and I play lots of video games.

I like a lot of movies but I think hat my favorite movie is Donnie Darko because it is such a unique idea and it really makes you think. One of my favorite quotes from the movie is "destruction is a form of creation."

My favorite musician is Cage. He is a New York rapper whose lyrics reflect realistic issues. I also really like Nine Inch Nails.

Pursuit of Happiness, By Kid Cudi

This is the official music video of rap artist Kid Cudi, the Pursuit of Happiness. Kid Cudi sings a lot about living his life to the fullest even if it means living fast. He talks about how people are living to find what makes them happy, to this day it seems mostly true. People work hard for the things they want, whether they want money, cars, girls, they're all on the same path of making their dreams reality. This video shows what looks to be like a big party full of people drinking heavily, maybe Kid Cudi could have been showing how when people don't try their hardest to make it, they try to have the best time as possible by changing their state of mind. Their having a good time at the moment but at the end of the night and the day that follows, they're really not.--Matt

love story

I picked this music video, because I really like this song and the artist Taylor Swift.  I also find the music video really interesting, This video is  also very creative and  well made and I like the idea's used in this video, Such as the fact that they made it similar to the story  of Romeo and Juliet but with a happy ending at the end.
